Is there any information I should bring with me to the visit?
It is helpful if you could bring previous exam records,  your eyeglasses,  or any forms you would like us to fill out for you, including:
  • Reimbursement forms for health spending accounts
  • DMV forms (we also can print Massachusetts and Rhode Island forms)
  • School Nurse Report Form (if the Nurse has referred you)
  • Other reports that we need to fill out for you
How much time will the examination take?
The exact amount of time needed for an examination will vary,  depending on the need for additional same-day testing, or extended contact lens fitting requirements.  Here is a general guide to time needed.  If there are any special requirements or accomodations you will need for your exam,  please let us know.

  • Comprehensive Eye Exam - about 30 minutes if you are a previous patient, and about 40 minutes if you are new to our office

  • Medical Eye Exam - about 30 minutes if you are a previous patient, and about 40 minutes if you are new to our office

  • Emergency Exam - about 30 minutes, but this will range from about 20 minutes to an hour.

  • Pediatric Exam - about 20 minutes if you are a previous patient, and about 40 minutes if you are new to our office. Infants to age 3 time will be less. For infants we encourage mothers to pre-fill our office information form before your visit, make sure the child is well-rested and fed.

  • Contact Lens fitting - about an hour

  • Contact Lens refitting - about an hour

  • Contact Lens Fitting - about 30 minutes if you are a previous patient, and about 40 minutes if you are new to our office

  • Retinal Imaging - about 40 minutes

  • GDx Retinal Scanning - about 20 minutes

  • Visual Field Assessment - about 30 minutes
